The duties of an Animal Control Officer is to respond to all animal complaints and enforce all City-County animal ordinances and regulations.
There are 3 full- time Animal Control officers. They work regular shifts Monday – Saturday. The officers rotate an On Call shift where an officer can be reached in extreme emergencies 24 hours, 7 days a week. An officer can only respond to a Priority I emergency after hours. These include: a person or animal in immediate danger, bite cases, injured animals that are still alive, or an animal running on the highway causing a traffic problem.
Butte-Silver Bow Animal Ordinances may be found in the Butte-Silver Bow Municipal Code, Title 6 or check the Municipal Code INDEX for more specific topics.
You may download the VOLUNTARY STATEMENT form to report a complaint or if you witnessed an incident. Email, postal mail, or drop off the form to our office.
The Neighborhood Complaint form for barking dog(s) may be downloaded if you and your neighbors are having a problem. You need only one person to sign the petition, but your neighbors may sign also. Return the form to Animal Services and we will serve the owner of the dog.
